Freshness and quality checks with visible exception handling.
DEMONSTRATION / Data & analytics
A clearer view of retail performance.
Explore a sample sales and availability workspace, filter synthetic product records, and follow an exception back to its definition.
Demonstration project. This is a hypothetical concept, not a client case study or production deployment. No business results are claimed.
SYNTHETIC EXAMPLE / NO LIVE INTEGRATIONS
A decision workspace you can inspect.
Compare two fictional 28-day periods. Filter the six sample products, inspect the definition, and open a row's review notes. Nothing here is a real trading result.
| Product | Sales | Change | Availability | Review |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Daily oat drinkDEMO-01 / Grocery | $18,600 | -7.0% | 57.1%16/28 days | Review neededReview notesLow availability and lower sales appear together. Check source freshness, mapping, promotions, and replenishment context before drawing a conclusion. |
| Roasted coffeeDEMO-02 / Grocery | $22,400 | +6.7% | 96.4%27/28 days | Within example rangeReview notesAbove the sample availability threshold. A positive sales comparison is not evidence of a change caused by this dashboard. |
| Everyday hand washDEMO-03 / Personal care | $9,200 | -8.0% | 78.6%22/28 days | Review neededReview notesBelow the sample availability threshold. Review which days had no stock and whether every expected source observation is present. |
| Travel care kitDEMO-04 / Personal care | $12,600 | +5.0% | 100.0%28/28 days | Within example rangeReview notesAll eligible example days have stock. Check that the comparison period and product definition remain consistent. |
| Kitchen towel packDEMO-05 / Home | $15,200 | -5.0% | 92.9%26/28 days | Review neededReview notesBelow the illustrative 95% review threshold. This is a flag for investigation, not an automatic ordering instruction. |
| Storage container setDEMO-06 / Home | $18,000 | +5.9% | 100.0%28/28 days | Within example rangeReview notesNo availability exception under the example rule. The underlying records should still be reconciled before use in a real decision. |
How the example measures are calculated
Sales change = (current sales / prior sales - 1) × 100. Category change is calculated from total sales, not an average of product percentages. Availability = sum of in-stock eligible product-days / sum of eligible product-days × 100. Every product in this example has 28 eligible days. The 95% threshold is illustrative and does not trigger an order or an external action.
A real implementation must define eligibility, incomplete feeds, new products, zero denominators, calendar alignment, and an accountable reviewer.
THE HYPOTHETICAL CHALLENGE
A useful place to start.
A hypothetical team uses disconnected sales and availability reports. Matching products and comparing periods requires manual reconciliation.
The proposed concept
An illustrative pipeline normalizes authorized source feeds into shared product and calendar dimensions. A governed reporting layer supports performance views and drill-through questions.
ILLUSTRATIVE SOLUTION FLOW
How the pieces connect.
- 01
Authorized source feeds
- 02
Validated data pipelines
- 03
Governed analytical model
- 04
Decision workspace
Shared definitions for product, period, sales, and availability.
Role-aware reporting and links back to supporting data.
WHAT A REAL PILOT WOULD TEST
Evidence before expansion.
A real implementation would first measure reconciliation effort, data freshness, and user adoption, then agree target improvements. No measured outcome is claimed here.
